The following provides some general overviews on visa policy of Rwanda. However, we strongly encourage participants to check their individual citizenship and the latest visa policy of Rwanda before travelling.

Visas are required for all visitors EXCLUDING nationals from the following countries: 

  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Hong Kong
  • Mauritius
  • Singapore

Those traveling from countries not listed need to apply for a T2 visa and can be done online here. The visa is Rwf 30,000 (USD 30). The visa is valid for up to 90 days. For a visa extension, visitors may go to the Client Service Centre of the Director General in Kigali.

There is also an option of paying 100 USD for tourist visa which allows you to visit Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda without any extra payment of Visa. More information about the EAC Single Visa can be found here.

Please note, all travelers require a passport valid for 6 months after your arrival. You may require a yellow fever certificate to return back to your country of origin.

Rwanda Resident visa:

If you desire to stay and work in Kigali or countrywide, you are expected to apply for a resident permit. This costs FRw 200,000 equivalent to USD 358.00

Extension of Rwanda visitor’s visa
On expiry of visa, you can renew it at the cost of RFW 25,000 Equivalent to USD 50.00.

Starting from Jan 1, 2014, Rwanda Uganda and Kenya are using single visa you can get for $100.

Citizens of Burundi, DRC, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and USA don't need to apply for visa. They will get entry stamp from airport/ border free of charge.

The process involves the following steps:

Step 1: Gather all necessary information.

Step 2: Go to website: https://www.migration.gov.rw/home/

Step 3: Select Language.

Step 4: click on “Services” and then“Visa”.

Step 5: Click at “Entry visa” and then “Apply online now”.

Step 6: Fill in form and submit it.

Step 7: Check if form was sent successfully.

Step 8: Receive your visa acceptance by mail 3 to 7 days after sending your form.
